what's typical of your golf area/region?

I propose this topic since I'm interested in golfers' cultural habits in other countries or areas

I my region of Argentina, which is kind of rural (something like Kansas or Oklahoma in the US) we usually play a 9 hole fourball match at midday since most activities come to a halt at midday.

In my club we're aroud 30 golfers average on a regular midday. Mondays the course is closed, and Sat. and Sun. are tournament days. Most people play on the Sat competition, which is mostly stroke play, or it may be fourball best ball or aggregate fourball or even stableford.

Most competitions are sponsored by the same club and there are two categories: 0-16 and 17-36.

Once a month there's a big sponsor competition which sometimes is 36 holes, and mostly stroke play. There are 4 handicap categories and a scratch category for better players.

We usually play in foursomes and a round takes around 4 hours. Everybody walks because there no electrical carts and most people pull their cart.

As you post your comments we can all learn a bit more about amateur golf around the world
