Breaking 80=Aim for Middle of Green

Can breaking 80 be as easy as aiming for the middle of the green?

HavenÂ't had access to the Net in a while and want to first send a shout-out to the GR posse, especially those whoÂ've helped me and my game!

This post is—as its title implies—about breaking 80.

Now, IÂ've done it before. Shot 78 twice. ThatÂ's where IÂ'm at. And I guess itÂ's important to point out that with the information IÂ've learned on this site and from a few friends, IÂ've been playing pretty well, with longer drives, and accurate (or semi-accurate) approach shots.

It seems though that my scoring has come to a standstill. Low 80s. And right now I think it has plenty to do with the way I judge my play to the green. I challenge too many greens/flags. And usually I pay a price.

But now I imagine that before I start firing at flags, I should learn to hit flags with some consistency—I mean, I should be able to go 8/10 right to the spot, give or take a few feet, and until then I should play to the center, take the almost guaranteed two-putt, and try to end the round without too many of them, seven at the most.

True?
